I am an Assistant Professor of Computational Cognitive Neuroscience at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
I study how the human brain gives rise to subjective experience. My research tackles this question by examining the physiological mechanisms shared across visual perception, memory, and imagination,
aiming to uncover general principles by which experiences emerge.
To this aim, my work seeks to identify behavioral and neural patterns that generalize across cognitive tasks (e.g., reoccurring gaze patterns) while linking them to the experiences participants report.
I combine naturalistic multi-task studies with neuroimaging and behavioral tracking (e.g., fMRI, EEG, eye tracking), and develop open-access resources to advance how human behavior can be studied in neuroimaging.
Ultimately, my hope is that the resulting knowledge and tools will help understand human cognition in health and disease.
